This is a little message Verizon set me after they I posted a new Thread about how jacked up they are for editing people Posts on the fourm they have. And they edited my post because I said Rooting is always an option until they fix the mistakes their phones are having with 2.2

I’ve become unemployed since getting my Droid, so I thought I would switch back to my Chocolate2 and save the $29.99/month data plan. Verizon said I could switch phones without a penalty, because I will still be on the contract.
Anyway, I am wondering if my Droid will become a brick without being tied to Verizon or if some of its capabilities will still work.
Will I be able to access email and the Market via WIFI? What about GPS, does the Droid actually talk to the satellites? I’m sure there are other things I am not thinking about right now, but this is a good starting point.
If I can’t use the Droid at all without Verizon, will rooting change things?
Verizon’s HTC Droid Eris launched today alongside the Motorola Droid as VZW’s first pair of Android phones. The Eris is basically Verizon’s version of the HTC Hero, which first made waves a few months ago as the snazziest Android handset on market – largely thanks to its Sense UI. Verizon is offering the Droid Eris, starting on Nov. 6, for $100 with new 2-year contract
