Delay in receiving email – HELP!

Loved the Droid so much I bought one for my boyfriend to prove to him it is sooooooo much better than his palm. Figures he’d find a problem… He is telling me that there is sometimes a very lengthy delay in receiving his work email – sometimes an hour or so. I am thinking it must be something to do with the way the enterprise server pushes the email out? Has anyone else come across this problem and is there anything he can do to fix it? I really don’t want to hear his nagging about this…he tries to act like there is nothing special about the Droid just to p*ss me off :icon_evil:. Any advise is welcome! Thanks!

Check Out the Google Nexus One

Perhaps you’ve heard about the latest phone from Google called the Nexus One. Perhaps you’ve even seen leaked Nexus One pictures and videos all over the internet. If you’re interested to learn more about this phone, read on.

Phone Basics

The Google Nexus One is HTC-built and is set to be sold by Google. It runs Android 2.1 on its Snapdragon CPU with 1 GHz capacity and boasts of a 3.7 inch screen display with a 480 x 800 resolution. It has 512MB each of ROM and RAM and comes with a 4GB microSD card which you can choose to expand up to 32 GB. The Nexus one includes such great additional features like a proximity sensor, an accelerometer and a light sensor. It also has a first-rate 5 megapixel camera that comes with an LED flash. Those who have been lucky enough to try out the Nexus report that the quality of the pictures taken by the built-in camera is actually pretty decent. The camera software installed on the Nexus is also a lot faster than what other similar phones have.

Phone Appearance

The Nexus is slimmer than an iPhone, which gives you an idea of how sleek it is. Not only is it sleek, but it looks very stylish as well. Its size makes it a perfect fit for your pocket, handbag and palm. So is this the one phone that will finally outshine the iPhone or upstage the new Motorola Droid? Well, it sure could. For one, the design of the Nexus is a lot better than those two, although this is usually a matter of personal opinion.

Phone Performance

When you try to move between home pages, you’d notice that the transition is very smooth and fast, especially when compared with the iPhone and Droid. In addition, the speed in opening various phone applications such as Google maps, or any other application that requires you to go through a lengthy list, is very impressive.

One problem though is that the multi-touch function is not included in the Nexus, which basically means that you still need to press one button at a time. This is a bit of a disappointment for most people, considering that the Nexus One has such a beautiful touch screen to play around with.

Google has included a lot of visual enhancements on the phone that you will probably like. There is a set of flashy wallpapers that react to the touch, going animated when you are on the home page. There is no sliding drawer on this phone, with Google choosing to put a direct home button and several icons which all wrap around a 3-dimensional cube. There are five home screens that you can choose from as well.

Those who have tried the Nexus have reported that the keyboard is a lot more responsive, which might be partly because of the Snapdragon.

Clearly, this phone combines both form and function. A lot of mobile phone aficionados are waiting to get their hands on the Google Nexus One.

How to get Outlook Express email to and from Droid without duplicates ala Palm mail

I am trying to get my office email to go to both the Droid and to the desktop machine.I set up my desktop email (through Outlook Express) to go to the Droid. My desktop email is with earthlink. I checked the box on Outlook to say do not leave copies on the server. Unfortunately, this results in email that I first read on the Droid to not go through to the desktop email with Outlook. I then tried setting up Outlook Express to leave copies of the email on the server. This didn’t work either: it results in duplicate emails going to the Droid. I get the same emails many times on the Droid because they are sitting on the server. When I had a Treo 755P, I had Palm email, which worked great: I would always get all the emails to the desktop and when I was away from the desktop machine, I would get any emails that came in on the Treo. When I responded to emails on the Treo, I would get a copy of the responses on to the desktop machine so I had a permanent record on the desktop of all emails regardless of which device they went to originally or were sent from. My goal is to get all email including ones sent from the Droid to the desktop so that I have a complete record of all email on the desktop. Any suggestions or workarounds on how to accomplish this?
