Installation of Google Maps unsuccessful

Posted on 7th June 2010 by garret in Droid Updates | Tags: , , , , , , , , ,
I tried installing an update to Google maps earlier but it said a manual update is required. I had it set to automatically allow updating of Google Maps, but it doesn’t show "Update available", it just says "free" as if its not even installed…

I’m running Froyo 2.2 on the Motorola Droid. tried disabling and enabling wifi, doubt if thats the issue

Removing previous endpoints from Maps

Posted on 1st June 2010 by garret in Droid Updates | Tags: , , , , , , , ,
I have several previously used endpoints in my layers on Maps. I no longer need these endpoints and would like to remove them. Any idea how? It seems like a simple "delete" button or "remove" button would be useful, but I am just not seeing it.

The Droid software version is 2.1 and Maps version is 4.2.0

Problem: Maps + Wikipedia Layer

Posted on 24th May 2010 by garret in Droid Updates | Tags: , , , , , , , ,
I’m trying to figure out if this small problem I’m having is related to the ROM I’m running (2.1 Custom ROM) or a general "bug" in maps. It worked just fine months ago…

In the "Maps" application one of the layers is a "Wikipedia" layer. It puts "W"s all over your maps that you can click. A small popup would appear and upon clicking that it would pull the information off of Wikipedia and tell you a little about the place. Now it still appears on the MAP, and I can still click it… but it doesn’t provide the wiki information. The only options it gives after clicking is "Share this place" and "Report a problem". Along with the standard "Directions" button on the top.

Feedback ?

Google Maps 4.2 Install Fail

Posted on 12th May 2010 by garret in Droid Updates | Tags: , , , , , , , ,
I’m trying to upgrade to Google Maps 4.2 but it won’t download, message I get says install fails. I’ve tried battery pull, doing it on 3G and on WiFi. No go.

I saw one other person with this issue this morning doing a Google. So either the server is not working or something else is going on.

Any answers? Perhaps a .apk file?

Google maps – can the Droid store them?

Is it possible to download a google map of an area and store on the Droid?

If so can Nav be used when network coverage is lost on a store map?

Google Maps – Reading Opposite Of My Traveling Route?

Posted on 18th April 2010 by garret in Droid Updates | Tags: , , , , , , , , ,
Ok, well I noticed that when I click on google maps it’s showing me on the right road, but going the opposite way. When I am in Navigation, everything is working perfectly. I am so confused. Anyone else experience this, or is it my phone.
