Movies, use Badaboom to put movies on your Droid fast

If you have a Nvidia video card get "Badaboom" from their web sight. Its pretty cheap.
I just bought Avatar for the family. I went to Fastest DVD Copy Software | Best DVD Decrypter from DVDFab and downloaded "DVDFAB PassKey 7", or google "dvd43free". These are both free and remove the encryption so I can rip my movie. Install Dvd43free or PassKey and a dvd. Then using Badaboom, which works with Nvidia video cards to transcode video fast, I transcoded Avatar in less than one hour and am now watching it on my Droid.
The settings I used on Badaboom are:
Select "Costom Media Center" on the right, select the drive your movie is in on the left.
Click Advanced, top right.
Video Decoder tab: check mark all
Video encoder tab: Profile=baseline Key frame mode=fixed
Level =Auto Interval =80
R.C.S.=Constant Q
Move the slider to Highest Quality
Pic Tab: Display Res=720×480
Aspect R.= Fill to Aspect(this is important)
Output Res. will read=720×404
Film-mode=Auto And checkmark "Deinterlace"
Audio Set. tab: Audio mix=Stereo Downmix
Audio Channel= English(D.D.)6ch
Audio Bitrate slider= far left 128
These setting may also help if you are using some other transcode program such as Handbrake or Super, which are free.
This has worked very well for me every time. I have a bunch of movies transcoded and tested.
Good Luck

Google Nexus One Fast and Affordable

Posted on 18th March 2010 by garret in Droid News | Tags: , , ,

The Google Nexus One is one of the best mobile phones available.  While many people think that they will not be able to afford it, there are many ways that Google is making it more affordable.  One of the best and easiest is to buy it through a carrier that is partnering with Google.  T-Mobile is currently the only carrier doing this, and they are located in the United States.  However, Verizon Wireless, and Vodafone both plan to get the Google Nexus One as a phone that they will offer in the late 1st quarter time frame.

However, for those who must have the Nexus One as their mobile phone of choice right now, there are a few things that you should know.  First off, this is not your typically mobile phone, at least as far as price.  It is not subsidized by a network except for T-Mobile.  This means that the price of the mobile phone unlocked is quite a bit higher.  You will pay over $500 for the right to own one of these awesome phones.  The price is truly worth it when you consider you are getting one of the few phones on the market that has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.  That is the same processor that is included with the iPhone.  Also, you are getting the ability to use the Android platform.  This is the mobile platform to be using.  Not only is it open to developers, but there is so much more that can be done with it.

Also, when you consider that the Nexus One is one of the smallest phones as far as weight, there is not a whole lot that you can deny.  It actually weighs 100 grams without its battery, 130 grams with.  You can talk up to 10 hours on 2G or 7 hours when you are on 3G service.  This is really good battery life when you consider how powerful the phone itself is.  When you are simply using the device as a video device it can playback for up to 7 hours.  This is 3 full length movies with time left over to save your battery.  You could sit through an entire New York to Los Angeles flight with this beauty!

However, that is not all, you are getting the latest version of the Android operating system.  The Android that is powering most of the phones in the field right now is simply Android 1.3 or Android 2.0.  For all of the people getting the Google Nexus One, you are getting Android 2.1, one of the hottest and newest lines for the mobile Android market.  This new upgrade will let you have increased user activity as well as get all of the firmware updates that Google is just beginning to roll out for older phones.  The Google Nexus One is currently available for $179.99 with a 2 year contract on T-Mobile, or over $500 if you wish to buy it unlocked from Google directly. Heading to Europe shortly it should be available through Vodafone.

You can visit Best Mobile Contracts to see all the latest mobile deals available. You can compare deals for Google Nexus One on contract. You can also read through many informative mobile phone reviews.

Motorola Droid On A Fast Boat (camcorder demo)

This video was uploaded from an Android phone. This video was recorded on the Motorola Droid running the Android OS (v2.0) and uploaded directly from the phone to youtube. I wanted to see what the frame rate and resolution of fast moving content looks like after youtube does their compression on a Droid video. The boat got up to 40mph. For comparison, here is the original uncompressed video strait from the camera (~25mb). You’ll see there is almost no difference. Good work YouTube (Google …
