Im running BB with BG and recently ran into the issue that when I disconnect from WiFi my Droid wont re-connect to the 3G network unless I restart the phone. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Wipe Data on Broken Droid

Need to wipe data on a Droid with water damage and a dead backlight on the LCD screen… any ideas? I was thinking of trying to access it via USB but haven’t found anything when I’m searching… any ideas?

note: the phone seems operational other than the screen, I can even faintly make out certain images on the screen in the right light or with a flashlight, but definitely not clear enough to boot into recovery and factory reset.. (although at this point I keep trying)…

Turning off data permanently

My brother won a droid a few months ago and it has been sitting in his closet since because he doesn’t want to pay the $30 for the unlimited data plan. Now I know (because I have a droid myself) that a data plan is a necessity for the phone, and have tried to convince him on numerous occasions to get a data plan, but he is not giving in. I also have a friend that does not have a data plan, and has a 1st generation iPhone. He told me that he was able to mess around with an APN files on the iPhone to make it so there is no data coming in or out of his phone.

I have tried two different ways to turn off the data. The first one was downloading APNdroid, but that method is not working. I am still able to access webpages and background data is still coming through to my phone.

The second method that I tried was to dial *#*#4636#*#* and then disabling dataconnection from there, but the phone just reverts back to original settings after a restart.

Does anyone have any suggestions, besides him getting rid of it or does anyone know of a hack?

Motorola Droid VideoTip – Copy Data To / From Droid

This video shows you how to copy data from your PC to your Droid or vice versa

Personal Data Security

I’m nervous about installing many apps due to the access they require of my personal data, preferences, contacts, etc. I see these as an incredible source of data gathering for someone (Google, etc?). Am I being paranoid or is this really what’s happening? I have nothing to hide but nothing to share either. Do some of them also make calls from your phone as indicated?

Cost of data plan question

I am synching my Droid with our Exchange 2003 server using ActiveSync. Do I need to stay on the $45 plan or will everything work just fine on the $30 plan?

Is ~256MB of data usage when idle, per day, normal?

I’ve noticed that when I have my account sync setting turned off, and the background data turned off, that my Droid still downloads approximately 250mb per day in data.

The only connections according to OS Monitor are to the 1e100 (google) servers, and to some server called ‘red.bizratepro.net’. I haven’t been able to find any info at all on that last one.

Latitude of *off*, btw. I’m running AdamZ’s Smoked Glass v6.01.

Where is all my data going??

Posted on 10th April 2010 by garret in Droid Updates | Tags: ,
So a few days ago (actually about a week now) I notice my data usage going sky high compared to my normal usage. Typically I would get up in the monring (7am) and have a couple of megs used. Now I wake up to almost 70 megs being used and 100 by noon and thats with almost no usage other than a few text messages here and there.

By the end of the day I am up to almost 250 megs and they aren’t being used by me. I am running UD 9.0 but I had this problem before then as well on Droid Mod. Are there any programs to see what is using all this data? Im looking at almost 6gb a month at this rate…

Thanks much!!
